The Order of the JAGWAR (Judge Advocate General’s Warrior-Attorney Regiment) is a private regimental association (i.e., a nonprofit non-Federal entity (NFE)) formally unaffiliated with the United States Government, U.S. Department of Defense, U.S. Army, or U.S. Army Judge Advocate General’s Corps (JAG Corps).
The Order of the JAGWAR (“JAGWAR”) is organized under the New York Not-for-Profit Corporation Law (“N-PCL”) and registered as a “Veterans Organization” under § 501(c)(19) of the Internal Revenue Code. It fully complies with both Army Regulation (AR) 210-22 (Private Organizations on Department of the Army Installations) and the Army Chief of Staff / Secretary of the Army guidance on “Interactions with Military Associations” (dtd 5 Nov 19).
Comprised of and open to membership by current and former Army Judge Advocates (JAs), legal administrators, and paralegals—to include Soldiers on active duty, in the reserve component or National Guard, as well as veterans—the Order operates solely to support Army JAG Corps personnel, providing resources to assist in their professional development as legal professionals and Soldiers. The JAGWAR does not lobby or advocate on behalf of any member or political policy.
